SCOPE of CASYS'01

The scope of CASYS'01 is the study, research and development of concepts, methodologies, theories and mathematical models for designing, modelling, simulating, optimising, controlling of computing anticipatory systems.

Computing systems refer to any rule-based and learning-based evolving natural and artificial systems. Computation deals with manipulation of symbols in a large sense, including calculation.

A computing anticipatory system is a system which computes its current states in taking into account its anticipatory states. Strong anticipation refers to an anticipation of events built by or embedded in a system. Weak anticipation refers to an anticipation of events predicted or forecasted from a model of a system.

A class of computing anticipatory systems deals with Incursive and Hyperincursive systems. An incursive systems is an inclusive or implicit recursive system such as, for example, x(t+1) := F(x(t), x*(t+1)), where each iterate x(t+1) is computed at each time step t = 1,2,3,... from a function F of x(t) and x*(t+1), where x*(t+1) is the anticipation of x(t) at the next time step, computed from the system itself or from a model. A hyperincursive system is an incursive system which generates multiple iterates at each computing step.

Title of Paper (16 points bold, centred )

Authors names

Affiliation, addresses

fax - e-mail - http (12 points)

Abstract (12 points bold)

The preparation of papers which are to be reproduced requires special care. In order to make the proceedings look as uniform as possible, the following instructions should be followed closely. (12 points)

Keywords (12 points bold): :Five keywords (12 points) .

1 Introduction (14 points bold)

The paper will contain preferably 12 pages with a maximum of 16 pages. The paper should include: Title of paper, Authors names, affiliation, addresses, fax, e-mail, http, An abstract, Five keywords which best describe the paper; References. (12 points)

2 Printing Area

Using 12-point Times New Roman font size for the main text the printing area should be 15 x 21.7 cm. Use sheets with format A4: 21 x 29.7 cm. The left and right margins are 3 cm and, upper and bottom margins are 4 cm. The interline distance is simple interline = 1.

2.1 Typeface and Size

We recommend the use of Times New Roman or one of the similar typefaces widely used in phototypesetting. (In Times and similar typefaces the letters have serifs, i.e., short end strokes at the head and the foot of letters.).

The text should always be justified to occupy the full line width, so that the right margin is not ragged. For normal text please use 12-point type size and one-line spacing.

Headings should be written with capitalised initials of words with at least five letters and should, with the exception of the title, be aligned to the left:

Title (centred) 16 points, bold

1 First Level Heading 14 points, bold

1.1 Second Level Heading 12 points, bold

1.1.1 Third Level Heading 12 points

For Title and Headings: first letter of each word with more then 3 characters in capital

2.2 Figures and Equations

2.2.1 Figures

If possible, originals should be pasted into the manuscript and centred between the margins; if no originals of the required size are available, figures may be reduced in scale and pasted into the text. For halftone figures (photos), please forward high-contrast glossy prints and mark the space in the text as well as the back of the photographs clearly, so that there can be no doubt about where or which way up they should be placed. The lettering of figures should be in bold 12-point font size. Figures should be numbered. The legends also should be centred between the margins and be written in 12-point font size as follows:

Fig. 3: text follows

2.2.2 Equations

Numbering of equations are at the right margin. In the text the reference to equations can be written as eq. 1 or eqs. 1, 2 for several equations.

X( t + 1 ) = F(..., X( t ), X( t + 1 ), ... ) (1)

2.3 Page Numbering

Your paper text should show no printed page numbers; they are decided by the volumes editor and finally inserted by the printer. Please indicate the ordering of your pages by numbering the sheets (using a light blue/green pencil) at the bottom of the reverse side. There also should be no running heads.

2.4 Printing Quality

For reproduction we need sheets which are printed on one side only. Please use a high-resolution printer, preferably a laser printer with at least 300 dpi or higher resolution if possible. It is desirable that on all pages the text appears in the middle of the sheets.

References (14 points bold)

Reference in the text to an author (surname of the author, year of the reference, pages eventually) or surname of the author (year, pages eventually). Example of a reference to a paper (Dubois, 1996) or to the paper of Dubois (1996). More than one reference (Dubois, 1996,1997; Rosen, 1995). At the end of the paper the references are written as

Surname Name of the author (year of the reference). (12 points):

Rosen Robert (1985). Anticipatory Systems. Pergamon Press.
